Can't believe I got Shrek'd like that

(1 edit)

I've come to expect some degree of trauma from your writing, but I wasn't prepared at all for the mention of the SBF from a character who looks like Pat

Seriously though, great to see a new project in the works! Excited to see where this goes

Just a friendly bit of advice: Don't speak authoritatively on historical matters you lack the intellectual courage to actually learn about.

Trans people are not some modern invention or whatever transphobic garbage you're suggesting here. Hiro's story seems to take place in pre-nazi Germany, which was in fact at the cutting edge of sexual research and queer rights advocacy from foundations such as the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft in Berlin (the very institute whose books were the first the Nazis gathered for book burnings, fyi)

Hiro's identity isn't forced, it fits well with the story's period AND he is precious and I would kill anyone who would try to harm him.

Don't wanna pick favourites because there isn't a single bad song in the soundtrack, but Personal Elegy with the Hinterlands as a backdrop works so well. There's something about its mix of electric guitars and steel pedals that makes a road trip through the south feel right.

...I also still like The Last Ones even though Joe Exotic fucked it

I only made enough front-facing details for the sake of the pic, but heck, I might try to model the whole thing a little more accurately later.

So I've been teaching myself Blender over the weekend, and one thing led to another

Edit: Hopefully compression didn't totally annihilate it this time. I'm done editing. I swear.

ffs Hermes stop ruining our floor

His indignant face is a hundred times more powerful

He's perfect

He symbolizes a simple life of stagnation which is ultimately one we both desire and fear... and also gay butts. Mostly he represents gay butts. Ozu's still life is about gay butts, change my mind.

It is :) It's a scene from Late Spring

This is precious

Hello I made the most tangential, stupid-ass obscure reference that I really only expect one person in the entire world is going to get and I'm sorry I've wasted my life like this. I don't even know why I found the idea so funny.

Anyway, to that one person: This is for you. I'm sorry.

No regretas

Does this mean Greta being an arthropod is canon

And then everybody clapped

Sorry no boar men this time

CC Search is a legit treasure

The valley BG is 100% Monument Valley in Utah. It's a pretty recognizable landmark :)

What a good boy

I swear Darkest Dungeon is an infinite well for quality memes

Oh geez thanks! <3

And sure!

The boar cannot hope to withstand such an assault

The tapir god is genuinely my favourite character to voice. There's such a worn, manic insanity to him that really feels complete and realized... whereas Nini is just distressing and monstrous.

To get that first achievement, you have to do at least seven of the following things throughout the Hinterlands Ch 3:

  • Go to the tailor, get Storm a fully-tailored set of clothes, and give him P's jacket
  • Visit Storm's home
  • Visit P's home
  • Go to the library and browse the fiction section with Storm
  • Go to the plaza and hang out with Storm
  • Visit the second church
  • Go to the pond and stay with Storm
  • Visit the diner at the archaelogical site

As for the other two, it all really depends on how important completionism is to you :)

I'm definitely not going to be getting those.

More like Hurt-mes

Cheese stain on the wall: Best Video Game Character of 2021

Not my favourite line per se, but I've started a new playthrough, and the MC telling Asterion that Jean strikes him as "mercurial" is just... so damn clever.

I wish I had something better to do but I really don't

So I was rummaging through my old books and found this little nugget from my childhood.

I can't believe how into these things I used to be

Okay I really wish I hadn't googled this

It's hard to say whether there's metaphorical, allegorical or even literal meaning to the vultures from what we know so far, Nikos obviously held some familiarity with the sighting, but overall vultures aren't particularly common in Greek myth, save for two particular figures: Ares and Tityos.

The vulture is Ares' patron animal, as they would always be found feasting on the corpses of fallen soldiers after a war. Given what Ares is about and the kind of bloodthirsty psychopath he is in literally every interpretation, I'd say it's probably unlikely the vultures are to do with him? Plus he was unsympathetic to Asterion's plight, so... yeah.

Tityos was a giant who faced the wrath of the Olympians in pretty much exactly the same way as Prometheus did, except in Tityos' case his organs were to be feasted on for eternity by--explicitly--vultures. At face value, the story doesn't seem to bear much connection to MH. BUT...

Tityos was the father of Europa... And therefore King Minos' grandfather... And therefore... Asterion's great foster grandfather AND Nikos' distant great uncle.

So there's that connection, but it's still I think a somewhat distant one. It's kind of a funny coincidence, though!

Edit: There are actually multiple Europas in Greek myth, only one of whom was sired by Tityos. Whether or not they are unique individuals or varieties of one amalgamated figure is really anyone's guess. Greek myth be weird like that.

I'm thinking their presence was more about the appearance of real, untainted life above the corrupted desolation of the valley. Nikos' moment of familiarity felt more like a reminder of life outside the valley, since he's had to live in it alone for the whole length of the story.

That's just how I interpreted it, anyway :)

Is there a particular moment you're referring to? There are a handful of times, from what I can remember, that Asterion muses he's turning to stone, but it's always as a metaphor for his apprehension, not a literal transformation :)

I can't deal with Susie having her own text box border. It's perfect.

Awesome! No prob :)

It might be the keyboard software you're using. I know a few use older syntax for inputs that Python can have trouble with.

To check, you can look into your device's settings, then navigate to wherever your language settings are (input, language, general management or whatever seems right depending on your android version). Check what your default keyboard is set to. I'd recommend using Google's official keyboard GBoard since it's probably the most up-to-date when it comes to compatibility.

If you don't see GBoard as a list of keyboard options, you might have to download and install it from the Google Play store. Just search for "gboard", install, run, and set it as your default when given the option.

Then load the game, try again, and let me know how it goes :)

Which version/platform are you running?

Hint: You and every member of your staff excluding Wolf have met the overseer already :)

He even makes a subtle self-deprecating joke when he first arrives in the hotel, explaining his name by saying that his family likes to join others' names together when naming their children.

And then, of course, he starts making references to his child Hermaphroditus
